During my time as a Sr. Data Scientist, I worked with a multinational CPG manufacturer to utilize social media and search data for evaluating niche needs, competitor brands, and product trends. Most of this work involved NLP and Bayesian approaches to topic modeling.

Built an arsenal of demos to showcase Capgemini’s data science capabilities in a business context, typically in the form of a dashboard or app using D3 and Flask.Much of my work focused on computer vision. In the past, I focused on transforming the metadata leveraged from CV models into insights. In 2018 I worked as the team lead with a Miami-based client to build a custom computer vision model for anonymized person tracking, customer segmentation and activity recognition to better understand customer experience in real world context.

Mitor Solutions is a boutique consulting firm in Atlanta, GA. Since 2007, they have worked with a diverse array of businesses and organizations to architect solutions backed by data. Their work often entails following strict guidelines in heavily-regulated industries.During his time at Mitor Solutions, Matt focused on supporting non-profits and social enterprises. He provided guidance during the branding and product planning stage of a new cancer research organization. He also developed generalized strategy frameworks for non-profits.In addition to strategic support, Matt provided technical support cleaning data using Python, building databases and optimizing code. He’s also set up marketing and branding solutions for clients using partners like MailChimp and Hootsuite.

Findyr collects highly granular and unique market & pricing data on a weekly basis from emerging and frontier markets. Their web-accessible data provides clients with a decided advantage in modeling future economic outcomes in global commodities, currencies and securities markets.Matt joined the team as the 5th full-time member. With his background in localization, analysis and operations, he proved an asset as a business operations analyst to a growing and inherently global start-up. Matt’s typical day consisted of SQL queries and story mapping. Using user data, he identified pain points and provided redesigns to the user flow and app design itself to reduce churn. He also worked to develop several internal tools by either defining requirements & audit trails for hand-rolled solutions like Findyr’s admin systems or forming a partnership with a solutions provider like Zendesk for Findyr’s knowledge base needs.

LanguageWorks was a language services provider based in NYC who specialized in guiding clients who were new to the world of globalization and localization. In 2014, LanguageWorks was acquired by Ubiqus.During his time at LanguageWorks, Matt specialized in MarCom and Branding localization services. In addition to the project coordination tasks he performed at TransPerfect, Matt began taking on a more client-facing role at LanguageWorks. He interfaced with clients to understand the nuances of their brand to ensure that those non-verbal concepts would also be translated into the local cultural language. Moreover, Matt used his Excel skills to help clients organize data coming in from multi-lingual surveys and support this form of basic data analysis. He also managed at-risk clients to reduce churn and improved operational efficiency through process mapping.

Based in New York City, TransPerfect is the largest privately-owned language services provider, with offices in over 90 cities worldwide. The company provides translation and discovery services primarily to companies in the legal and healthcare fields.At TransPerfect, Matt worked as a project coordinator on the legal services team, managing teams of independent language services vendors from around the world to translate documents like international contracts, depositions, class-action lawsuits and discovery materials.With each project, Matt would define the project timeline & scope, prep documents for a translation memory (TM) analysis, create a glossary & style guide and contract certified vendors. After the translation, editing and proofreading of the documents, Matt would review the translation, reformat the documents, and manage the post-localization testing of the project as needed. While at TransPerfect, he played an integral QA role in the development of an automated project management system.
