I have been teaching in North Carolina since September 2017. I am currently a Third grade class teacher. I am enjoying the opportunity to see how a different country teaches and sharing my experiences in England with children in the US. As well as learning from a different curriculum;After my first year teaching in North Carolina, I was awarded a State bonus for my students growth in reading being in the top 25% of all teachers across North Carolina. I was also elected to be the grade level leader for my team of 5 teachers in my second year. I enjoyed the opportunity to lead a team and help new staff members acclimatize to a new school environment. This year I asked for experience in a different grade level. So I was allowed to move to 3rd grade. I have enjoyed giving myself a wider range of experience across the US education system. Third grade has also given me an opportunity to develop further my behaviour management. This is something required more with a challenging year group. However, through positive reinforcement, I have promoted outstanding learning behaviours to all the children in my class.

Upon graduating from Kington University, I took up a new role as a Class Teacher at Wellington Community School, Aldershot, This was a school which was new (six months old) at the time. I enjoyed playing a key role in developing some systems in place for the school from the assessment, to the planning format. During my time at the school I worked in years: 4-6 working at developing a curriculum which was engaging for all learners as well as challenging. Under my guidance the students made excellent growth and grew in maturity and confidence. Whilst at Wellington I was also simultaneously the leader of: PE and computing. In my role as the PE leader I developed the confidence of the teaching staff to deliver exciting and purposeful PE lessons. Which developed the children's ability in all the key skill areas As leader of the computing curriculum, I developed an exciting curriculum which developed children as problem solvers and had a good understanding of the importance of Coding. I was also able to provide parent workshops and whole-school assemblies on e-safety.In this role I understood the importance of communicating with key stakeholders in the school, from the Senior Leadership Team and the board of Governors. I also placed a high emphasis on giving children additional learning opportunities after school. I coached many successful sport teams for the school during my time there. I also coached them at the Hampshire county cricket festival.I left this role because I was presented a new exciting challenge to teach in a different country and share my culture with American children as well as learn from their culture.
