Mr. Matthew R Jones is the Executive Director at Blackcarbon Organisation. Previously he held the position of Chief Executive Officer for Newport Energy Limited and Chief Technical Officer. Prior he was the Technical Officer with Newport Oil and Gas. Mr.Jones’s technical experience started within the Australian Military, after completing a scholarship to the Royal Military College Duntroon. Upon taking his commission he was a technical analyst in the Intelligence Corps. This gave the basis for appraising, evaluating and understanding of advanced technologies. This knowledge Mr.Jones took into the private sector. His extensive understanding of technology on a global scale quickly made him an asset to financial institution and investment houses.Along with Mr.Jones’s extensive technical knowledge, is also a significant understanding of the mining and resources industry. As a director of R&J Construction and Mining Mr.Jones worked alongside his father, whom has 50 years’ experience with the oil, gas and coal industry. Working with companies such as Caltex, BP, BHP and Rio Tinto. As CEO of Newport Energy Limited Mr.Jones has a vast knowledge of the CDM industry and workings of both validation and the UNFCCC. During this time he has also carried out the business development throughout Asia specifically in China, India and South East Asia.Mr.Jones also led the team in creating the first Black Carbon Emission Reduction Standard and VER trading platform. The black carbon standard designed by NEL is the world’s first professional emission reduction standard that is only focused on black carbon. The black carbon standard aims to offer an open and transparent voluntary financial support platform with the capability of reducing black carbon emissions and thereby preventing black carbon from impacting climate and benefiting the world’s health. Mr.Jones is currently located in New South Wales, Australia.
