My time as a Health Club Advisor has given me the opportunity to develop my Motivational Interviewing skills, helping potential new members understand how we can help improve their health and wellbeing.

My time at Swindon Town came after a heavily impacted time at University due to the Covid pandemic. After graduating, my confidence in pursuing a degree related career was low, as I was unable to complete any professinal placements due to the restrictions in place at the time. The skills and confidence gained from my time at the club helped me to pursue my career within health and fitness.My first position with Swindon Town came as an STFC Academy S&C Intern. My primary role was helping develop player's locomotive movements via pitch based sessions, alongside introducing the U14 and U15 squads to gym based sessions to further underpin athletic motor skills and fundamental movement skills. I was also involved in the regular collection of GPS and other raw data, that I interpreted into figures for the players to understand. The sessions and data collected also helped me create individualised programmes for players. In July 2022, I started a new position with the Men's First Team as a Sports Therapist Intern. My main duty was to provide treatment to players, to optimise recovery and reduce injury risk. This treatment included sports massage, nutritional advice, physiological and biomechanical testing. Being part of a multi-disciplinary team within a professional squad was an incredible experience, and I am truly grateful to the both the players and staff for the experience I had. Show less
