My third level education was spent at the University of Ulster. I spent four years there studying Construction Engineering and Project Management. This included a placement year with O'Hare & McGovern on Our Lady and St Patrick's College, Knock. A relatively tricky new build which had to coincide with the day to day duties of the College. I graduated with a 2:1 with commendation in 2011. After speaking with my course director, Sam McCaughey, he advised that 'life experience' is of greater value than work experience. From there, using a recruitment company called Smaller Earth, I sought employment in Canada. I found work in British Columbia, working for Panorama Mountain Resort. I spent two years travelling throughout Canada and the United States, working where necessary to fund the next adventure. Upon returning home I was offered a job with Thornton Roofing. I work within the Contracts team as the Workshop Manager. This role includes working with our contracts managers and design team to ensure quality manufacturing and fabrication. I oversee a team of five, whose collaborative efforts, ensure that we meet our targets for each individual site and / or customer.
