"Well, Mr. Anderson it seems that you have been living two lives," no quote has ever described me so well. As a high school educator with 10 years of experience while also being a live production designer and technician, designing and creating lighting, sound, and sets for over 20 years I can honestly say that I certainly have been living two lives.As a veteran high school history teacher, I focus on bringing the excitement, and drama of the past to the most difficult audience imaginable, 25 sixteen-year-olds at 7:30 in the morning. To do this I have honed my communication, organization, and messaging skills guided by data-driven goals to really help my students learn not just the skills they need in the classroom but also those that help them to be good people. - I have built a continuous strong rapport with my students for just shy of a decade, with many students choosing to specifically take classes I teach - I have had continued growth in the after-school theater tech program with a 400% increase in student participation and an 80% student retention rate. Many of my students over the years have gone on to seek a future career in theater. - I have served as an Innovation Specialist, a Teacher Mentor, and was selected by my peers from a group of veteran teachers to be the opening speaker for the new school year. - I was honored as the 2022-2023 Educator of the Year as selected by a panel of teachers, administrators, parents, and students.All the while I have been working as a Live Production Designer. I have a passion for creating high-impact events regardless of budget or scale with proven success. My communication, problem-solving, and decisiveness are qualities that I share in both of my careers and have served me well.
