I am a graduate of Medical Biotechnology at ATU Sligo with Second Class Honours. It was at college where I learnt many of the scientific competencies which have allowed me to smoothly transition from the academic to industrial setting, as I now work for Abbott Diagnostic Division in Sligo. I am always looking to improve myself to further advance my career which Abbott enables me to do through many training modules which I readily avail myself to. My college life was not solely academic as I got involved in many extracurricular activities such as the volleyball, soccer and chess societies. The social benefit of taking part in these clubs cannot be underestimated in developing me to become a team-player with leadership qualities looking out for the best for my team. I also have volunteer experience with Abbott as I took part in an inter-company soccer tournament in aid of Pieta House and the Irish Cancer Society.Aside from college and work I like to seize the opportunity of living so close to the surf capital of Ireland, Bundoran, and I regularly go to Tullan Strand or Rossnowlagh Beach to enjoy the natural waves. At home I often practice guitar which helps me keep my mind sharp and flexible as I learn new skills.

I worked in the Product Testing Lab where I made sure that Calibrators and Controls for Diagnostic Tests were within specification for large scale production. I also performed informal audits to prepare the lab for more formal audits like an FDA audit. I also contributed ideas though the ideas card system to help the lab overcome smaller day to day problems. The hazard card system was also a system I used to alert colleagues/management to safety concerns. I was also a flexible member of the team working across both night and day shifts to fulfil testing demands.
