Luvera for Greene County Legislator Matthew is a life-long Catskill resident, attended St. Patrick’s Parish School and graduated from Catskill High School. After graduating from Columbia-Greene Community College, Matt attended SUNY New Paltz graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. He received a Masters Degree in Education from the College of St. Rose, and has been a fourth grade teacher at Catskill Elementary School since 2003. Besides teaching, Matt serves on the School District Technology Committee and the extracurricular co-advisor to the Business Club and Yearbook Club with fourth and fifth grade students. Community service has always been important to Matt. He has been a volunteer at the Matthew 25 Food Pantry in Catskill since 2010. Matt served at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Catskill as a youth leader and teacher, liturgy and music director, and he is a current member of the Knights of Columbus. Currently, Matt serves as an organist at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cairo, organist at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in West Camp, and cantor at St. Anthony’s Friary in Catskill. He is also a Trustee for the Greene County Historical Society. As a Legislator, Matthew looks to continue to serve the community to represent Catskill. He will make decisions that will help Catskill and Greene County prosper by promoting local businesses, our local history, and tourism. Matt will serve as a voice for our youth, our families, and our seniors by working with all levels of government and community organizations to move Catskill forward in a positive direction.
