Why not? It’s not something you hear very often from someone in local government, but then again times are a changin’. Having worked his way through the ranks over the past decade and working in those rare government entities that allow thinking outside the square, Matt has worked on many projects involving Civil Engineering, Traffic and Parking. Highlights include putting an underpass under a rail line in 48 hours [after about 1.5 years work mind you] and being the Town Engineer on the Bay View Terrace Shared Space Upgrade which received the 2014 Local Government Road Safety metro award.Passionate about traffic issues and good urban design Matt is always trying to do things better, whether it be road safety or mentoring those around him. At the moment he is even trying to better himself, studying business at the University of Western Australia. When he is not working, buried in books, or questioning the status quo, he is a keen traveller and has also been known to pick up a guitar, dumbbell or video game controller from time to time. He currently lives in Perth, with his girlfriend Emilie in a villa they are slowly trying to renovate. Although a Gen Y – He calls himself a Gen Y-Not?!
