Matt's current position holds responsibility for managing and coordinating the operations of Virgin Australia at Melbourne Airport. Duties include:- Ensure the safe movement and manage all Virgin Australia aircraft in Melbourne to maintain Network schedule integrity and customer satisfaction- Oversee & manage the operational network for Virgin Australia in Melbourne- Collaborate with Load control to ensure all aircraft passengers are accounted for and all baggage loading procedures all followed correctly- Liaise with Operations Control, Melbourne Airport and all contractors and stakeholders while maintaining effective communication to carry out a safe & effective operation.- Produce an overnight & next day aircraft movement plan to ensure safety, on time performance & KPI’s are met while monitoring current day movements.

Matt's responsibility for this role was supervising and coordinating the work of Virgin Australia ground crew members to perform a variety of tasks related to the operation of flights. Duties included:- Supervising the work of ground crew team members to ensure that all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies and procedures- Assigning tasks to ground crew members based on their trained skills set and experience, and providing guidance as needed to ensure that they are able to perform their duties effectively.- Coordinating with other departments within the airline, such as AMCO (Airport Movement Coordination), Load control, Cargo & Freight and maintenance- Ensuring that all equipment used by ground crew members are properly maintained and in good working order

Matt's primary responsibility was to handle the loading, unloading, and transfer of baggage and cargo to and from aircraft. Responsibilities included:- Sort and segregate baggage based on flight destinations, ensuring that each bag is correctly labelled and directed to the appropriate aircraft- Assist in maintaining the proper weight and balance of aircraft by carefully distributing the weight of baggage and cargo and liaising with Load control- Adhere to strict security protocols to prevent unauthorized items from being transported on board aircraft. - Operate various ground support equipment, including baggage tugs & conveyor belts- Follow safety procedures, including proper lifting techniques and the use of personal protective equipment- Maintain accurate records of loaded and unloaded baggage, tracking any irregularities or discrepancies
