Operations Manager

The Junction Business Improvement Area

Toronto, Canada Area

Throughout COVID-19, I supported local small businesses through a challenging time, providing helpful resources and 1-on-1 guidance, as well as connecting frequently with elected officials at every level of government. I have also successfully strengthened the relationships between The Junction BIA and City of Toronto staff, TABIA, elected officials at each level of government, and other BIAs, to improve advocacy and ensure that small business and property owner concerns are reasonably considered when creating and implementing public policy. In addition, I completed a certification in Local Economic Development from Ryerson University, where I consulted for the Downtown Yonge BIA and completed a 60-page report on the health of its main street, with ten recommendations for future success and recovery, published in the Economic Development Journal of Canada.Further, I oversaw local streetscape and public realm improvement projects related to wayfinding, accessibility, and urban planning; these included new benches, tree guards, murals, pole ramps, and planters. In this role, I also coordinated and launched the award-winning Junction Annual Window Wonderland art exhibition, which employs local artists and Augmented Reality (AR) to create an impressive display of public art to support the local business community and transform the Junction into a prime tourist destination. Throughout this process, I managed 40 local artists and liaised between them, local businesses, and tech consultants. This event was the recipient of the 2020 OBIAA Initiative Award and the 2021 IDA Award of Excellence. In the past, I managed the event logistics behind The Junction's 8th Annual Summer Solstice Festival, bringing live music, an art festival, food, craft, and performers to the streets of The Junction to promote increased traffic to local businesses. Finally, during my time at the Junction, I successfully attained over $300,000 in revenue for the company through grant writing.

Administrative Officer And Secretary (Harris Westminster Sixth Form)

London, Greater London, United Kingdom

Harris Westminster Sixth Form works tirelessly to provide an opportunity to largely underprivileged students in London to receive a high-quality education and gain entry to competitive universities including Russel-Group and Oxbridge. While I was the professional face of Harris Westminster and acted as the first point of contact for all guests and callers, Harris Westminster provided me with the opportunity to hone my administrative skills. During this time I maintained many of our information systems and databases, oversaw attendance, and scheduled meetings/appointments. Following the ethos of legacy and always leaving things better than they're found, I succeeded in streamlining many of the reception duties, such as our lock-down and fire procedures, as well as creating a comprehensive and detailed red book of the office duties. I also voluntarily tackled other responsibilities such as overseeing and overhauling the Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA), organising the annual Holiday Party/Secret Santa and other outings as the unofficial social coordinator, and working as the Administrative Assistant to Sports in between hires. I also value the support that I've been able to give the students at Harris Westminster. I have been able to communicate with students regarding welfare/safeguarding concerns, watched over and advised students in the Medical Room, and administered emergency first aid while liaising with emergency services. I am proud of the work that I have done at Harris Westminster and everything that I have learned. I am content knowing that I have left my mark there; I feel immense excitement at the chance to continue leaving legacies during my future ventures using all of the skills that I have learned.

Junior Orientation Coordinator

Toronto, Canada Area

During my time at the University of Toronto Students' Union I had the opportunity to impact thousands of students through the organisation of the largest Orientation Week in Canada. Working alongside the Orientation Coordinator, brought to fruition multiple large-scale events: a massive Carnival spanning across front campus; a Clubs Day to promote hundreds of student clubs to new students; a Club Night hosted at the newly opened REBEL Nightclub and Cabana Pool Bar; a collaborate Pep Rally and Parade bringing together the many colleges and faculties; a Street Festival to show off the amazing work of our community sponsors, and Homecoming, celebrating the efforts of our Varsity Blues. Through savvy budgeting and skilful negotiation we brought a $300 000 budget into the black for the first time in years. We maintained the use of ethical fundraising to acquire and manage dozens of corporate and community sponsors, and began relationships with numerous caterers and food trucks in Toronto. We also developed and promoted the Uof6ix (trademarked) brand for the UTSU, which still brings in business to this day (see link below), and had it trending in Toronto on Twitter in Sept 2016 (throughout the event week). As well as overseeing the many administrative duties that went on behind the scenes, I also assisted in the hiring, training, and management of over 100 student volunteers through the summer and into Orientation Week.

The event boasted a DJ, live musical performers and bands, a sketch comedy show, a balloon drop, and multiple rooms of food and desserts, with each room decorated to different themes by volunteer interior designers. Other events included the annual Red & White Ball and the Awards Gala for UC's volunteers and athletes.
