I am a medicinal chemist interested in prosecuting hits from chemical discovery platforms that bring bRo5 chemical therapeutics (peptides, oligonucleotides, PROTAC/glues) to intracellular targets or specific tissues, or via oral delivery, to address debilitating human disease. Success in this large chemical space requires well-designed chemical screening (synthetic libraries, OBOC, mRNA-display, DNA-encoded libraries), integrated cheminformatics + data analytics (library analysis, sequence-activity analysis, machine learning), structural modeling + analysis, and creative synthetic followup to permute hits into chemical space far outside of the initial hit. Our industry's ability to harness the rapid development of ML algorithms requires a close integration between chemist and data scientist to produce data of large quantity and quality for training and testing these models.Although trained in synthetic organic chemistry and chemical biology, I have worked in the industrial design+synthesis of passively membrane-permeable peptide macrocycles (including analytical property measurement), various screening library design+synthesis strategies, lead ID medchem followup, and CRO synthesis management. In these capacities I have built or applied various computational tools, notably: Spotfire (data analysis), CCG MOE (molecular modeling, NMR), rdkit/pandas (custom data analysis projects), Thermo Tracefinder (analytical LCMS quant), HELM+peptide informatics.
