About Matthew Orris

Software Engineer with 18+ years of experience developing innovative, high-quality embedded systems in the Telecommunications and Defense industries. Software engineering is about problem-solving. I am passionate about solving problems. Problem-solving is deeply connected to learning, often the only way to solve a problem is to keep learning about it, tenaciously investigating all aspects involved. I use my skills to look at challenges from different angles to find the most efficient solution. I effectively utilize the resources available, which, for embedded systems and Blockchains, may not be many. Is the problem intermittent? How can you collect more data? Where can you store it? Where can you send it? It is essential to be methodical, create experiments, and see what works, isolate the fault until the solution appears. What problems can I solve for you? I will be tenacious in my investigations, and I will persist and find the right solution. I will take ownership of the challenge. I have considerable leadership experience and excellent teamwork skills in startups and large corporations. I have worked closely and effectively with multi-functional teams from System Engineering, Hardware, System Verification/QA, and Production to achieve project requirements. I have a passion for debugging challenging software. I am a global citizen with an appreciation for other countries and cultures. I am an innovative, experienced C/C++ firmware/software engineer with a dedication to quality. I am looking for a stimulating company where I can use my expertise to build the next big technology.
