Matthew P. Bertelli is an associate in Dechert's financial services and investment management practice. Mr. Bertelli represents asset managers in matters concerning federal securities regulation and corporate law. Mr. Bertelli counsels U.S. registered investment companies, including mutual funds, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and business development companies (BDCs), as well as their investment advisers, on a variety of legal, compliance, and business matters. He advises fund sponsors regarding formation, structure, and regulatory requirements for launching new funds. Mr. Bertelli also counsels clients on the cross-border provision of financial services and the global distribution of investment products.Matthew earned a Juris Doctor summa cum laude from the Roger Williams University School of Law in Bristol, Rhode Island. An alumnus of the Class of 2023, Matthew was an Articles Editor for the Roger Williams University Law Review, a teaching assistant, and served as the Administrative Vice President of the Student Bar Association. Matthew interned for the Bristol County District Attorney's Office during the summer of 2021 and was a summer associate at Dechert LLP in Boston, MA during the summer of 2022. As a third-year student, Matthew was an intern at the legal department of IGT and the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island.Before enrolling in law school, Matthew accumulated several years of experience in the professional services industry working as a financial consultant and an auditor. Matthew was previously employed by CFGI, the nation’s largest non-audit accounting advisory firm, as a consultant in the Boston office. Before CFGI, Matthew was an associate in the assurance practice at PwC in Boston. Matthew has worked on technical accounting, finance, compliance, consulting and auditing projects for a mix of public and private clients spanning the aerospace and defense, banking, software, biotech, and technology industries in the Greater Boston area. A native of South Kingstown, RI, Matthew is an alumnus of the University of Rhode Island, having earned a master’s degree in 2016 and a bachelor’s degree magna cum laude in 2015.
