I started Scuba SEAsons out of my love for scuba diving and having had several amazing underwater encounters with various sea creatures, I came to believe that every dive could and should hold that possibility. We are chasing that dream through the development of the web and mobile Scuba SEAsons apps which are a platform style app where divers are submitting photos of when and where we have spotted various sea creatures on dives. Eventually this will build out a map of the optimal diving season to dive with any sea creature anywhere in the world! So far (January 2024) I have been the principle developer of the app both mobile and web, creating the many features that exist in it today.Working with a few friends I have also been responsible for creating a marketing campaign and materials for the app. This has included a physical printed material as well as social media campaign so far.We have also been active in engaging with dive shops, charters etc in an effort to promote the app via the diving industry. If you are a diver who is interested in contributing your sea creature dive photos to the app, please reach out to me at scubaseasons@gmail.com and I will work with you to get you setup!Additionally, if you work at or run a dive shop or charter, please know that we are currently developing features to help promote your businesses and we would love to get in touch with you to get your feedback on these new features! I can be reached via a private message here or at scubaseasons@gmail.com
Project Manager I - Tops
I successfully maintained an on time project completion rate of 99% over the course of high staff turnover triggered by a voluntary departure program, the shift to work from home during the covid period and the post covid inflation. With an active project load of 330 to 360 acting strictly as a project manager wasn't feasible in my view, so with 10 planners (plant design engineers) I chose to approach my position as a program manager, looking for chronic issues affecting a wider swath of projects, this approach worked very well and we maintained an on time completion rate of 99% from 2019 through 2023.That's not to say that I didn't perform project manager duties, I maintain fiscal control of projects, making sure they meet approval standards and that projects stay within their budgets. In addition major scope changes to individual projects also fall to me to review and approve before they are implemented. Major actions taken include: Working with our contractors to setup a site monitoring program that allowed our team to have a continual flow of standardized site info coming in on a weekly basis. This involved 3 of our contractors who now monitor between 600 to 700 active and inactive sites. Expanding the contracting program to allow planners to contract out a larger amount of a given projects scope (up to the entire project in some cases) this allowed planners to handle a larger workload and for some, this doubled the project load they would other wise have been able to handle.
Project Coordinator Iii, National Planning - Project Management & Process Analysis
1/3 Business Analyst, 1/3 Lead Developer, 1/3 Project Manager is the best way to describe my current role at Shaw. I am tasked with looking into the current processes of Shaw's Planning department nationwide to find places where we can fill process gaps or simply improve existing processes for the planning teams, managers and related departments.Once I have identified an area to improve, I then consult with relevant stakeholders to understand their needs, I balance those out and begin development of a software solution that can automate, centralize, or create a process standard to help them perform their duties. During development and into the release, I am also responsible for managing the scope of work/ change requests as well as communications with stakeholders regarding progress, schedule milestones and post release support. Accomplishments to date:On the job self taught VBA & SQL in under 1 year Project lead Residential Projects Tracker (Project Management Database Application)Project lead Bid Tracker (Contractor Tendering System)
Project Administrator Plis / Iehr Project - Service Delivery, Project Monitoring & Finances
The PILS/iEHR project is a 10-year contract that Oracle has undertaken with the BC Ministry of Health to build a fully integrated patient information system. It was my responsibility to analyze and report on the multiple projects to ensure that they were completed on time and on budget providing while recommendations for corrective action if not. This involved working with Oracle’s in house projects team, partners and contractors to gather the required information.Midway through my contract, staff turnover gave me the opportunity to take on two new challenges. The first was handling the monthly SLO/SLA reporting to the client, this included following up with our system admin and incident management teams for their reports allowing me to consolidate and create the final month end system stability and availability reports. The second was with the incident management team; specifically processing the various change requests that came in weekly and assisting the change manager with the approval and scheduling of proposed changes.
Project Manager 2014 Crowdfunding Campaign - Social Media Promotion & Content Development
PeaceGeeks is a small Vancouver based not for profit that aims to challenge the typical trickle down foreign aid model by providing direct technical expertise and support to grassroots partners. I was brought on as project manager to run their 2014 crowd funding campaign, the organization’s major funding drive for the year. The project had only two major deliverables, to raise $25,000 and to increase awareness of PeaceGeeks on their social media channels We decided that the major theme of the campaign was to drive an emotional connection between PeaceGeeks and its audience, with that in mind we designed three new content streams that would allow people to get to know PeaceGeeks from three different perspectives: the projects, the partners and the volunteers.Despite a few bumps and issues that cropped up we were able to produce all of the content on time and to the required quality standards. The campaign closed having exceeded all of its targets, raising over $36,000, ($32,000 Online, $4,000 Offline) increasing the donor base by 20% and increasing the social media following by 12% over 5 weeks
Account Service Representative - Financial Solutions, Service & Sales
RBC Royal Bank is one of Canada’s largest financial Institutions that operate under the philosophy of providing exceptional client experiences. My role was account service representative, quickly performing in person analyses of client’s financial profiles and provide specific recommendations to enhance their banking portfolios. While my primary duties were involved in client service, advice and sales I found other ways to expand my skill set, this was where I first decided that I wanted to move into Project Management. I headed an internal branch project, the goal of which was to increase branch revenues and reduce our safe deposit box (SDB) wait list. The branch has only a limited number of larger size boxes and they were in high demand. The first phase of the project was identifying large sized SDB’s that were out of commission, identifying the work that would be required to bring them back into service and set up maintenance orders for each box. The second phase involved identifying qualified clients on the wait list and scheduling appointments to open / upgrade their SDB. This involved careful coordination with my colleagues to ensure that branch operations could continue to run smoothly while SDB work was in progress.By the project closure we had reduced the wait list to half and increased branch revenues by 30% per box while diminishing revenue leakage from unusable SDB’s. I am also pleased to say that I was able to maintain my rank as the top salesperson on the team during the life of the project as well.
