Operations Manager
Responsible for the safety of all staff (100 - 130), while ensuring costs, productivity, and customer service targets were met/exceeded in line with business goals. This was achieved through overseeing all day-to-day operations of the business in collaboration with Supervisors & Team Leaders daily, via a huddle, to prioritise workflows and resources in line with customer demand,Achievements:• Reduced overtime by 100% by staggering shifts and introducing afternoon shift (cater for outstanding work - outstanding orders, put-aways, replenishments & inventory control). Casual rostering was managed daily to forecast and freed up MHE equipment for dayshift use.• 100% safety incidents, hazards and actions were reported, investigated and actions taken and closed. This was accomplished by setting aside daily safety time and training Supervisors / Team Leaders to identify hazards and close these out.• With sudden growth in order volume and customer demand for one of our pet food customers, more staging and packing space was required. In collaboration with our Continuous Improvement team, we moved the Receiving area to utilise the larger space, designed and implemented a put wall with 254 slots and increased packing stations from 4 to 12 which doubled productivity - 300 orders to 600 in a shift.• Consolidated existing customer products, moving consumables to containers in the yard, opening up 500 pallet spaces. Reconfigured existing racking to accommodate new customers’ pallet requirements, with assistance from Warehouse by Design.• With an increased number of clients being onboarded, more LO & LF drivers were required. As part of the Risk Management Project, 20 freight handlers (existing staff) were trained as LO & LF drivers, and 15 freight handlers were trained in Inventory processes. This reduced the cost & time of hiring casual staff.
