My career mission is to deliver superior results by effectively leading teams, developing winning strategies, and then executing against those strategies. Tackling challenges, growing businesses, and developing teams; these things have become the foundation of my career. They provide meaning, purpose, and motivation for what I do. I have been very fortunate to have spent most of my career working with and learning from iconic companies like Ferrara and Kellogg. Along the way, I’ve had the freedom to succeed, fail, learn, and develop my skills and contributions while working with some amazingly knowledgeable, talented, and dedicated people. I’ve supported and helped drive success with small entrepreneurial type brands as well as Billion dollar plus brands. For all of this experience and opportunity, I am very grateful. I firmly believe that the way to win in business is to be fair, honest, and transparent. It is not enough to simply uncover opportunities. A leader has to be able to direct and work with a team to develop and execute plans and programs. Managing execution is every bit as important as creating the plans and programs in the first place. Thankfully, my teams and I have a very solid track record of success. Despite past successes, I truly believe that the best is yet to come! One of my earliest mentors once told me this; “The best leaders never stop learning. In fact, they seek more knowledge and experience.” I have embraced that advise and am personally committed to growing my strengths, gaining broader experience, and continuously improving my skills. I actively promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement among my teams. I am anxiously looking forward to segueing my experience and knowledge into embracing new challenges. I am confident that I have a lot to offer, but I also know that I have untapped potential and I still have a lot to learn. I am convinced that my biggest challenges, opportunities, and contributions, are still to come. Director, Sales - Foodservice, Vending, Theatre, Military, Corrections & Outbound LicensingFerrara Dec 2021 - Nov 2023Chicago, Illinois, UsI currently lead a team of 6 tasked with generating licensing opportunities, partnerships, and retail sales for the company’s 15 core brands in diverse channels including Foodservice, Vending, Theatre, Military, and Corrections. We work very closely with 3 major broker partners to drive growth. In this role, I’ve had the opportunity to enhance and polish my project management skills. We tackled two projects simultaneously which had a big impact on the business. For the first project, I organized Ferrara’s first ever Foodservice Governance Committee. Prior to 2022, the company lacked a formal vetting and approval process for Foodservice new items and limited time offer (LTO) promotional initiatives. The first steps were to gain full understanding of what information the various functional areas of the company needed in order to prioritize and approve project and resource requests. A standing cross-functional committee was then established to evaluate requests and provide discipline into the overall initiative request approval process. The approval process is now faster and project execution has been enhanced because all departments are brought into the loop prior to project approval. The other project that we tackled was establishing a new account prioritization process and go-to-market strategy. The old process was outdated and lacked clear objectives and definition. I worked closely with Marketing to develop guidelines and guardrails to ensure proper brand representation. I created a cross-functional team including Legal, R&D, Brand Marketing, Media, and Culinary to expedite project feedback, approvals, and execution. This team increased organizational and process control which enhanced execution efficiencies and helped gain credibility both internally and at the customer level. Other big wins to date include leading a successful SKU rationalization initiative and hiring the company’s first corporate chef. -
