CurrentThe Southwestern Financial Analyst Program is made up of 10-11 students who manage over 2.5 million dollars (USD) of Southwestern University's endowment.I was one of three sophomores accepted into the program last year and am currently holding the position of accountant.My role as an accountant is to:- Determine the capital gain or loss and rate of return (annualized if held more than one year) on each completed transaction (buy & sell).- Determine monthly and report at our update meeting what the YTD and monthly rates of return were on the FAP Portfolio and on the S&P 500 Composite Index benchmark.- Obtain monthly and report at our update meeting Lipper Analytical’s average YTD and monthly rates of return for large-cap growth, mid-cap growth, small-cap growth, and multi-cap growth mutual fund managers.- Prepare and write up the various Accountant’s Reports and tables for the Annual Report. This includes the periodic buy and sell transactions, capital gains/losses, as well as the dividends and interest income received.- Monitor regularly and report any important investment news or information by email/meeting found in the investment newsletter or web site you have been assigned.
