Architectural Assistant
CurrentMy role at RAFT as an architectural assistant has varied from direct community engagement, to producing graphics and detailed carbon calculations and modelling.School Workshops - Assisting with workshops in schools with children and teachers, communicating retrofit principles and helping children understand retrofit for their own homes and communities Detailed Retrofit + Exhibition Design - Co-leading on initial stages of retrofit demonstrator for a London Council, working directly with the client, + designing a community exhibition + engagement programme.Graphic Communication - Graphics illustrating retrofit principles and its wider relevance to communities, that are accessible, but retain the complexities, understanding the inherent knowledge that communities have through their lived experiences.Social Media and Website - Complete redesign of the website and social media to create spaces that are relevant for built environment professionals, as well as teachers and students to engage with.Wider Community Engagement - Across my work at RAFT, engaging with the wider school community has been essential. I then helped co-ordinate a spotlight photography project to highlight the vital role of premises managers in the school community and make their work more visible, as it is often not recognised.Knowledge Sharing - Presenting work and engaging with communities at the Building Centre, as well as a range of other professionals in the retrofit space.
