Provide guidance counseling to low-income families currently receiving public assistance through MFIP. - Collaborate with participant in developing an individualized case plan/Employment Plan that adresses challenges, needs, strengths & abilities. - Guide participants in pursuing education, employment, employment retention and improving employment statuses. - Administer, and interpret, various assessment tools and evaluation instruments related to needs, skills and abilities -Identify support service needs and make appropriate referrals when needed (common referrals: psychological/neurological testing, ongoing mental health services for case management and stabilization; chemical dependency evaluations and treatment programming, parenting classes and community support groups; public health services, services to assist with criminal backgrounds, shelters and transitional housing programs, vocational rehabilitation, job readiness assistance and support). - Work collaboratively with community agencies, including, but not limited to: therapists, crisis management, housing case managers, probation, child protection, childcare, financial workers, interpreters, Refugee Employment Service agencies, child support, domestic violence advocates, legal aid, education providers, etc. - Monitor ongoing progress, provide guidance and support in moving forward, manage case material to meet ongoing measurements required by TANF. -Provide crisis counseling and link participants to appropriate services- Effectively communicate in a fast-pace environment and ability to work with very diverse populations experiencing poverty - As a Motivational Interviewing Coach, I, lead monthly Motivational Interviewing Circles with peers to continue to support and implement evidence based practices in every day work
