Hello!I am a career professional cellist, which means I have spent the last thirty or so years systematically developing my mind/body system to ever higher standards of practice and performance. My beloved research library, on the other hand, is full of _theoretical_ works on emotion, intelligence, memory, and various "nonstandard" forms of structural logic.What I do is study the mismatches. Why is it that, when an action needs to be taken, these three bodies of human knowledge--practice, performance, and theory--so often give conflicting guidance on what needs to be done? Why do the resulting arguments get so emotionally charged? Is there a hidden logic involved? Is it universal? Can it be mapped? Can we use the map to solve big societal problems?Based on my uniquely diversified perspective (I designed and built the precision tools in my baton-making shop), I am optimistic.
