Key Responsibilities: • Establish laboratory, manufacturing plant and staff facilities at the Coolum site compliant with the Australian standards and other applicable legislation. • Management and leadership of the production and supply chain functions to satisfy increasing sales demand for Terragen’s live microbial products. • Work with QA/QC to resolve product-related issues, ensure ongoing product quality improvements and accelerate Terragen’s progression towards GMP compliance. • Implementation of a culture of workplace health and safety. • Responsible for the operational management of the Coolum site and the recruitment, leadership and management of staff.Achievements: • Designed and managed fit-out of the product manufacturing and packaging plant. This provided in-house product manufacturing capability with a capacity of over 36,000L per week, removing reliance on third party service providers to produce saleable product. • Instrumental in establishing a safety culture and the associated processes and procedures therein for staff, visitors and contractors on the Coolum site. • Commenced development of a product manufacturing strategy for Terragen to bring live microbial products of limited shelf life to new overseas markets.pplication. • Drove the design and oversaw the fit-out of Terragen’s laboratory facilities to enhance our environment for scientific achievement.

Left my senior industry position with Teva, Sydney for a temporary career break in late 2017 to support my wife, who was head-hunted for a once-in-lifetime opportunity with QUT in Brisbane. Since relocating the family to Brisbane I've been the primary carer for my young family, who have since commenced school.

Key activities:1) Lead Teva's antibody discovery and optimisation group- Manage a group of up to six scientists, research assistants and technicians tasked with producing best-in-class therapeutic antibodies and optimal reagent antibodies for use in clinical development - Provide input to IP protection through patent authoring- Drive the evolution of Teva’s antibody platforms through both in-house development and in-licensing 2) Management of laboratory and associated facilities- Drive the design and build of facilities required for scientific success, whilst overseeing the day-to-day operational requirements of the laboratoriesKey achievements:- Inventor on thirteen published patents & two peer-reviewed journal articles- Led the discovery and development of nine antibodies as potential therapeutics, five of which have progressed into human clinical trials- Envisioned and implemented multiple facility enhancements and upgrades at Teva, driven by science business unit requirements. Activities ranged from managing site-wide shutdowns for electrical supply upgrades to retrofitting and extending the in-house Physical Containment laboratories- Procurement analysis and contract management for laboratory consumables and services resulting in large savings for Teva. This included supply chain management for difficult to acquire reagents and consumables

Joined a newly formed team as a research scientist that was part of Peptech Pty Ltd's human health division Aim: Develop a portfolio of in-licensed antibodies as potential therapeutics against various oncology targets

Joined a research program funded in part by the Australian Wool Innovation Aim: Identification of a new generation of novel, environmentally friendly, pest-specific insecticidesKey outcomes:- Cloned and functionally characterised the sheep body louse ecdysone receptor heterodimer and authored a patent protecting the novel sequences discovered (WO/2008/092212)- Received the CSIRO Molecular Health Technology division's quarterly award for outstanding performance- Authored two journal articles with collaborators

Achievements:- Gained experience managing a multidisciplinary team across multiple sites to enable pre-clinical testing of novel prophylactic antibodies- Developed reagents and protocols for pre-clinical testing activities- Significant experience in phage display gained from mapping antibody epitopes and generating display libraries
