The Queensland Curtis Liquefied Natural Gas (QCLNG) project features +30 gas processing facilities including 17 Field Compression Stations (FCS’s) and 5 Central Processing Plants (CPP’s), linked by a vast network of gathering pipelines and trunklines. The project also includes several reverse osmosis water treatment plants and a 540 km Export Pipeline (42” pipe) taking compressed gas to a two-train LNG export facility on Curtis Island, Queensland. Working as Electrician, core role deliverables included (but were not limited to):• Wiring and pre commissioning of electrical substations• Installation of instrumentation and power cables• Resin barrier and steel wired armour glanding• Wiring of intrinsically safe marshalling panels• Testing of cables and documentation• Glanding of intrinsically safe cables• Installation of cable tray systems.

Queensland Curtis LNG (a BG Group company recently acquired by Shell), hired Bechtel to design and build a liquefied natural gas complex on Curtis Island. The huge plant produces LNG for use by Australians and for customers in China, Korea, Japan, and Malaysia. The construction program was part of the largest concentration of private-capital investment in Australia’s history. Working as Electrical Leading Hand, core role deliverables included (but were not limited to):• Planning electrical works to contract scope and coordinating and supervising electrical work teams to carry out the scope of works whilst maintaining strict HSE standards• Overhaul of the gas turbines and repairs to electrical devices, cables and panels • Installation of instrumentation devices and cabling• Installation of cable tray and conduit systems• Collection of claims for monitoring of scope• Installation of small light and power• Completing test documentation• Electrical testing of circuits.
