CurrentMatthew S. Blum joined Rosenberg & Estis, P.C. in 2023 and is a Member with the firm's Litigation Department. As a litigator and trial counsel in several New York State and multistate law firms, Blum is a seasoned trial attorney, having represented clients in matters dealing in complex commercial, financial/securities, and real estate litigation. Blum has handled more than fifty trials through judgment and appeal, as well as appeals before all four New York Appellate Departments and California Court of Appeals.Blum has represented Fortune 250 and closely-held corporations, manufacturers and distributors, military contractors, casinos, financial institutions, and government agencies. Blum has prosecuted and defended complex cases in a wide array of commercial practice areas concerning, for example, copyright, Lanham Act, trademark infringement, interbank disputes, mergers/acquisitions, derivative shareholder claims, partnership disputes/business dissolution, 18 U.S.C. 1962(a-d) RICO violations, construction, antitrust, Defend Trade Secrets Act/corporate espionage, and real estate disputes. Blum has worked on securities fraud cases involving hundreds of millions of dollars, and RMBS cases resulting in recovery of over $1 billion for institutional clients.With his background in finance, Blum has served as special counsel and advisor to national banks, hedge funds, credit unions, RIAs, and loan servicers on defensive strategies in securities, banking, and real estate litigation, authoring statewide bank policy on New York-specific litigation strategies on various case issues. Blum has further served as regulatory/advisory counsel on securities offerings, PPMs, and development of innovative financial products. Beyond regulatory practice, Blum has served as litigation counsel in civil and enforcement proceedings involving REITs, the Martin Act/blue sky legislation, Sarbanes Oxley, Sec. & Exch. Act of 1934, and Reg. A/B governing sale of asset-backed securities.
