The role of communications manager sets and guides strategy for all communications, website, public relations messages and collateral to consistently articulate AIRAH's mission. I oversee four reports. I also edit Ecolibrium, the official journal of Ecolibrium.

Deputy editor of INTHEBLACK, the monthly business magazine of CPA Australia, and the highest circulating business magazine in Australia, with an audited circulation of more than 109,000. Duties included liaising with editor to generate content, writing and sub-editing articles, handling the client-approval process and liaising with design studio on design of magazine. I was also editor of Real Business magazine, a magazine targeted at finance, business and accounting students. General editorial duties were performed as required.Achievements: Part of team that earned a coveted Bell Award in 2008 for best custom/contract magazine of the year for INTHEBLACK.

In this role I sub-edited material for the Herald Sun features pages and supplements including Cars Guide, TV Guide, Careers Guide, Hit and Weekend. I also sub-edited written and graphic material for the Herald Sun’s 14-part How Things Work series of in-paper magazines, and liaised with the editor on How Things Work content as required.Achievements: Production-edited award-winning How Things Work primary and secondary school kits and posters designed to complement magazine series.

The role of public relations officer involved writing and editing a range of written material including media releases, speeches and copy for council publications such as the council newsletter and the internal staff newsletter, council website and intranet. I designed and implemented communications strategies where appropriate, liaised with local media, and responded to media enquiries as required. I also assisted the public relation manager in providing strategic advice to mayor and senior management.Achievements: Successfully designed and implemented key communications strategies, including those for the inaugural Bayside Film Festival and for the new Beaumaris Library.

I was a freelance writer and sub-editor for publications such as Good Weekend, Metro magazine, Australian Screen Education and othersAchievements: Contributed several articles to Good Weekend, the weekend magazine of The Age and Sydney Morning Herald and one of Australia’s most respected publications.

The role of communications officer involved managing, writing and editing a range of written material, including media releases, speeches and copy for various publications, council website and intranet. I was involved in event management for various launches and celebrations, including the launch of the Springvale Solar Energy Project and National Volunteers Week celebrations.I advised internal clients about the best approaches to meet their communication needs.Achievements: Regular pick-up by local press of media releases; five front-page local news stories favourable to the council generated from said releases. I project-managed successful launch of the council's Sports Information Kit.

This position involved writing and editing a range of written material, including the council plan, annual report, newsletter (Divercity) media releases, speeches, advertorial and copy for council website/intranet.Achievements: I was part of the team to launch Divercity, a new council publication.

As editor of weekly newspaper Pro Basketball Today I was responsible for the day-to-day running of a nationally distributed newspaper with three staff and a circulation of 10,000 per week. Achievements: Covered Sydney 2000 Olympics; increased profits by 20 per cent.

One on One magazine was Australia’s leading monthly basketball magazine during the boom years of the sport’s popularity of the 1990s. Pro Basketball Today was a weekly newspaper that complemented it. I held various roles on both during my tenure.Achievements: Winner, Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) 1999 Media Award, Best Feature Story; Winner, National Basketball League (NBL) 1998 Media Award, Best Feature Story; Winner, 1998 (WNBL) 1998 Media Award, Best Feature Story; Winner, Victorian Basketball Association (VBA) 1998 Media Award, Best Story.Travelled to the US to cover sporting events, including 1995 NBA (National Basketball Association) All-Star Game (Phoenix, Arizona), and 1996 NBA All-Star Game (San Antonio, Texas).

As part of Swinburne University of Technology's Work Placement Program, I completed an internship at The Sunday Age sports supplement.Achievements: Several articles published.
