Flipping the switch inside someone's head that helps them realize their true potential, helping them to discover that science, specifically Biology, is fun and relevant and nothing to be scared of, and helping people discover themselves and the world around them....these are a few of the myriad of reasons I love teaching! I am dedicated to my vocation as a college professor and always looking to learn new things. I have high expectations for myself, and am always striving to improve all aspects of my life. Bringing my passion for science to the classroom and passing it on to my students is the greatest career reward I can think of. I am always searching for new ways to disseminate information in ways that fully engages my students on all levels. I enjoy collaborating with other instructors and scientists to bring knowledge to the fore, and firmly believe that you should always leave things better than you found them.I am also a member of, and a staunch supporter of, the LGBTQIA+ community. In my current position at Solano Community College, I serve as the faculty mentor and advisor for the SCC Pride Club.
