Mr. Matt Senn is a licensed Professional Engineer with a strong background in Renewable Energy power generation; specifically, Megawatt-class wind turbines, solar photovoltaic power plants and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). He worked for 12.5 years in the wind turbine industry with experience in onshore wind turbine construction, commissioning, operation, upgrades and service; he understands the utility-grade wind turbine from top to bottom. He has worked in the forensic engineering field for 3.5 years analyzing renewable energy losses, equipment losses and electrical causes of fire scene investigations. He has analyzed failures of renewable energy equipment during construction, operation, and transportation phases of the equipment. He specializes in root cause failure analysis and has evaluated damage and subsequent repairs to the following large renewable energy equipment: generators/motors, wind turbine blades, nacelles, generators, gearboxes, bearings, control panel, inverters/converters, large gauge insulated conductor cables, high-power vacuum tube contactors, generator slip rings with carbon brushes, power factor correction capacitors and ultrasonic anemometers, and solar photovoltaic modules.Matt enjoys cooking, BBQ and smoking various meats and vegetables, baking bread, podcasts on history and current events, golf and curling.
