My name is Matthew Severance and I am currently a Mechanical Engineering senior at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, graduating in May 2018. Through my education I have developed important teamwork, leadership, and technical abilities. I have a driven mindset and a strong desire to excel in all applications of my life. I have had two summer internships at United Technologies Aerospace Systems (UTAS), located in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. During my time as an Intern for UTAS, I was able to:• Develop an aircraft accident and incident reporting system, with an end purpose of alerting the appropriate personnel when a UTAS product has been compromised.• Create the UTAS tactical response teams “Go-Team” appendix, instructing members what to expect when deployed and how to handle emergency situations. • Work in UTAS’s material science lab to test a new anodizing process for aircraft and engine component identification plates. The test enabled us to evaluate the longevity of the new plates and determine ways to improve their mass production efficiency.• Develop an automated data entry system using Microsoft Access and Visual Basic Application (VBA). The system consisted of a new, user-friendly interface for engineering forms and notified appropriate personnel for all pending actions.• Work closely with Pratt and Whitney’s new NEO aircraft engine program to efficiently integrate UTAS manufactured products, such fuel pumps, actuators, and wire harnesses.Thank you for taking time to look over my profile.
