Hi, I’m Matthew Sheehan, a second-year Business Economics student at the Farmer School of Business, Miami University. I’m from Buffalo NY(GO BILLS!), and currently serve as the President of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Staying involved on campus is important to me, and I love taking on challenges that help me grow personally and professionally. So far at Miami University, I’ve been committed to making the most of my college experience. In my freshman year, I joined an intramural soccer team, earned a spot on the President’s List for academics, and was elected President of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. I’m also involved in the Real Estate Club and Hedge Fund Club, where I’m expanding my knowledge beyond the classroom. Recently, I completed the First-Year Integrated Core (FYIC), which consisted of four tightly woven courses focused on solving real world problems for actual clients. Throughout this experience I learned invaluable teamwork skills and was introduced to collaborative environments that I’ll encounter in my career. This program allowed me to jumpstart my academic career at Miami, and set the tone for not only my future courses but also for my future. Outside of school, I’ve balanced two jobs while running my own landscaping business. Managing these three diverse jobs has taught me how to properly manage my time, while also giving me unique insights into customer service, operational efficiency, and the importance of personalized business. Running my own business has given me a deeper look at the day to day functioning of a business, which opened my eyes to a lot of things I never thought about as an employee.
