I became an expert in my product division at our ERP system, operational processes, and financial accounting. This made me a key resource to management. I was often asked to create reports that did not exist at the time I was asked. However, I was able to use my knowledge of our systems to find the appropriate data in our databases. I also took on the extra responsibility of training other operations team members and product managers in the use of our ERP system and other processes. I controlled all costing information for products within my division. By using managerial accounting concepts, I helped realign our costs to better reflect actual costs. This immensely helped improve financial performance.

This was my first role at Medline. I focused on my product division’s supply chain, systems, and financials. Through focusing on inventory management, I was able to help improve service levels while reducing surplus inventory. I spent a lot of time researching and changing our purchasing records to insure accuracy and proper sourcing. Finally, I had the opportunity to get more involved with our financials. After my first year, I had provided recommendations on changing costing rates which was approved and ultimately drove profits higher.

I returned to Mangrove for a second summer before my senior year of college. Most of this summer was also focused on moving hard copy files into our electronic network. However, there was much more emphasis on indexing and filing these in a more organized way for easy access by other company personnel.
