Matthew is an experienced financial and commercial Company Director, Charity Trustee, and Consultant. With extensive cross-sector experience, he applies his strong corporate skills to situations in the charity and not for profit (NFP) sectors, and softer skills required for NFP to situations in the commercial sector. He has spent nearly 30 years identifying the issues and then creating and implementing change in a broad range of organisations; initially working for banks, creditors, and investors, for the last 21 years he has worked as an independent for the directors, shareholders, or trustees.He has undertaken a range of roles including leading turnarounds and change programs, executive and non-executive directorships, strategic planning, financial modelling, cashflow management, independent reviews, and the mentoring of chief executives through a turnaround. His work is often focused on the financial and commercial aspects of the business but he has regularly worked in roles that require a broader responsibility across the performance of the whole organisation. He has worked with start-up organisations helping them to get their structure right from the beginning giving them a better chance of success. He has been involved with over 250 different organisations across multiple sectors including engineering, house builders, commercial construction, contracting, professional firms, retail, manufacturing, printing, health & social care, education, disability, environment, and conservation, and with grant making, fund-raising, and service delivery charities.He is a recognised speaker on Turnaround Management and has been a guest lecturer on the Bayes (Formerly CASS) Business School, University of London Masters courses since they began in 2004. Matthew created and chaired courses for R3 and IFT including a series of workshops for the business support departments of the main UK banks.
