My research was focused on the continuing development of the lac repressor as a regulator of gene expression in AAV-mediated gene delivery. This work resulted in one pending publication and a US provisional patent filing.

As both an experimental and a computational biologist, I have the unique experience of understanding both sides of the modern molecular biology world. I enjoy the process of framing an experiment to answer a specific question and knowing the limitations and advantages of the experiment when it is time to computationally analyze the data. Understanding both sides of the coin has allowed my thesis work to evolve over a wide range of techniques and organisms: I started studying transcriptional regulation in bacteria, moved to studying transcriptional regulation using purified proteins and DNA, and finished by applying that knowledge to build a transcriptional regulatory system for AAV-mediated gene therapy in a mouse model. Furthermore, I am extremely collaborative having started not only the aforementioned gene therapy collaboration, but also a collaboration to computationally analyze the physical properties and function of a prion remodeling protein from yeast.

I worked as a research technician at the Center for Magnetic Resonance and Optical Imaging (CMROI) center at the University of Pennsylvania. I was responsible for running small scale clinical MRI scans for Alzheimer's detection and osteoarthritis detection in volunteer human subjects using novel MRI pulse sequences. Furthermore, I was responsible for data processing of MRI images to extract various biophysical values from the raw images.
