As a Cloud Engineer with Wingmate, I’m responsible for collaborating with a cross-functional team to utilize AWS services to benefit our clients. Examples of this include migrating a monolithic Rails application from Heroku to AWS, enhancing scalability and resiliency. I also led the development of our integration with Outlook, using a variety of AWS services, which resulted in the processing of 5,000 emails daily. Additionally, I am responsible for engaging with clients regularly to gather feedback and improve platform functionality to meet their needs, as well as participate in the hiring process and providing recommendations on additions to our team.

As a Student Developer Co-op, I had the unique opportunity of learning about AWS and how to utilize their services to build systems to meet user’s needs. At the Cloud Innovation Centre, I implemented search functionality using AWS DMS and OpenSearch, streamlined processes by eliminating the need for manual data entry by using docker and AWS ECS, and refined data in large CSV files using AWS Glue and custom python scripts.

In addition, I assisted the development teams with troubleshooting customer issues on available products, reported and collaborated to solve bug issues, and gained an understanding of wireless technology and protocols. In my free time, I started learning about taking the repetitive manual testing and automating it.

As a content creator for Wize, I created new practice questions for mock exams in 12 courses across multiple Universities in Canada. In addition, I managed 12 courses by answering student’s questions and updating course content for midterms and final exams. This position allowed me to learn about how to best support fellow students.

As a camp counselor and sailing coordinator, I led multiple groups of diverse campers through daily activities and developed creative methods to teach hundreds of campers how to sail and sail safely. I also coached children how to canoe, kayak, swim and sail and built a community of 40 people. In my role, I could allow the campers to learn and grow as individuals.
