The position required great compassion and professionalism when working directly with the deceased’s family and friends. I also felt I gained a greater maturity in this role as I dealt with the recently deceased for collections, both private and Coroners, and also in the preparation of cadavers for funeral. The role also required communication with various groups at different levels thus requiring me to adjust my style and approach when speaking with the Police, Coroner’s Office, hospital staff and the bereaved family and friends. I also believed and practiced the company focuses of dignity and respect towards my colleagues when working within a pressurised environment and with a large team of people it is important to communicate effectively and politely with one another.
