Demonstrates an overall knowledge and competency while performing tasks listed in the job description and all expected LTA duties. Accurately retrieves, registers, and accessions all specimens into Histopathology with appropriate record-keeping. Accurately organizes workload and prepares cassettes for grossing. Prepares Pathology specimens for send-out, and documents return of materials and reports. Prepares cytology specimens for review. Identifies issues and processes requiring improvement. Ability to find, organize and use resources to improve outcomes. Assists with maintaining organization and cleanliness and work/ storage areas. Job duties will include specimen accessioning, performing routine equipment maintenance, inventory, stocking, and bench cleaning. Storage tracking/discard of samples.

• Teach curriculum-based environmental, natural history, cultural history, science and/or farm-based agriculture/ecology lessons through a variety of methods. Curriculum includes focus on Delaware Nature Society core values and working in collaboration with Education Coordinators & fellow Teacher Naturalists. • Support the development and updating of program curriculum as requested.• Ensure all Delaware Nature Society policies and procedures and health and safety protocols are implemented and always enforced. • Co-lead seasonal, public and/or summer camp, eco-tourism programs in collaboration with Education Coordinators & Leadership staff. • Assist with program preparation & clean-up, care & handling of program equipment/materials, care & transportation of live animals in collaboration with fellow site-based Education Coordinators & Teacher Naturalists.• Attend and participate in required training sessions and voluntary enrichment sessions.• Maintain regular communication with site-based Education Coordinators & Leadership Staff to ensure best practices, program schedules, trainings, etc. • Promote & support Delaware Nature Society’s mission, values, goals, activities, and membership to a wide array of program audiences.

Intern for Annapolis Maritime Museum and Park • Leading/ assisting with Oyster Education programs in Middle Schools, where 6th graders learn what an oyster is, create an Oyster model, dissect an oyster to look at the different parts of an Oyster, and the same 6th graders will then plant Spat (baby oysters) back on known Oyster reef sanctuaries. • Assisting/ Leading activities for Club Chesapeake afterschool program at local Elementary schools where students get to learn about various maritime-themed topics like crabs, fish, oysters, and eels.• Leading/ assisting with activities for School field trips based on what the school wants to learn or experience such as hand tonging, erosion, water quality, and oyster harvest game. • Assisting with the Box of Rain program that serves the underprivileged youth through fun hands-on activities and tutoring during afterschool hours.• Leading/assisting various activities during themed one-day camps called school’s out camp on days Anne Arundel County public schools have off from school. • Leading an Oyster Gardening program with the Sea Scout 1959 in which they will clean our oyster cages to earn service-learning hours and increase their maritime knowledge through enrichment activities like water quality and reef critters.
