I am a transportation "plangineer" specializing in traffic operations and transportation with experience planning for both small developments and large-scale transportation projects. I’m passionate not only about the efficient movement of vehicles, but also designing and building multi-modal and transit friendly street networks that improve society as a whole. I currently work at WSDOT as a transportation engineer specializing in freeway operations, active traffic management, border operations, and ramp meter analysis. I try to use the documentation, communication, and operational skills I honed in the private sector to benefit the lives of Washingtonians on a daily basis. Among other projects, I led the analysis and implementation of the I-405 to SR 167 freeway-freeway ramp meter in Renton. This included presentations to various WSDOT and non-WSDOT stakeholders, daily tuning and parameter modification, and evaluation reports at defined checkpoints. I have also led the efforts to publish WSDOT's first Seasonal Factors document in lieu of normal Ramp and Roadway due to diminished 2020 traffic volumes. Finally, I manage and maintain WSDOT's border operations in the Northwest Region and coordinate almost daily with Canadian Border Services Agency.I previously worked at Parametrix and Transpo where I have significant roles on projects such as the Tacoma Dome Link Extension, SR 3 Freight Corridor, and the SR 305 Corridor Mobility Projects. I have a notable background in traffic safety having utilized Highway Safety Manual methodology to conduct Level III safety analyses and Intersection Control Evaluations. Though it can be tedious, I genuinely enjoy sorting through traffic safety data to find patterns and to develop solutions to existing safety issues that may exist.I hope to remain in a position, whether that be private or public sector, to improve all facets of the transportation network and to enhance people’s daily lives with safe, efficient, and multi modal transit.Outside of engineering, I have a personal love of trivia, cycling, backpacking, golf, and baseball. I’ve led a consistent trivia group for almost 8 years now, though family responsibilities have cut into that “consistent” narrative. On nice weekends, I can usually be found either cycling on the SR 520 trail or backpacking one of the National Forest trails in our Puget Sound backyard. I’ve been an avid golfer since I was young and though my handicap has strayed from a low of 4, rest assured I can put together a 10 handicap round most days.
