Matt is an attorney who is dedicated to helping clients resolve their most difficult legal problems both inside and outside the courtroom. Matt has significant experience representing individuals, businesses, counties, school districts, and other governmental entities in a broad range of areas including government and commercial contracts, business torts, defamation, consumer protection law, the False Claims Act, ERISA, administrative law, constitutional law, trade secrets, Indian law, election law, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and Wisconsin’s public records law. Matt’s experience includes advising clients on their options prior to the initiation of litigation; representing clients in all phases of litigation before federal and state courts at the trial level and on appeal, as well as in arbitration and mediation; and representing clients in investigations.Before joining with Andy Phillips, Chrissy Hamiel, and Jake Curtis to found Attolles Law, s.c., Matt was a shareholder at one of Wisconsin’s largest law firms. Prior to that, Matt practiced law for six years in Washington D.C. in the Government and Regulatory Litigation group at WilmerHale LLP. Matt has also served as a law clerk to the Hon. Priscilla R. Owen of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the Hon. C. Weston Houck of the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina and the Hon. Karen J. Williams of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
