Matt is a registered architect with over twenty years' experience leading multi-disciplinary design teams. He brings with him a portfolio of projects with a wide range of scale and scope from a 5,000 SF art foundation in Edmonton to a 500,000 SF commercial life science project in Philadelphia or a 2,000,000 SF football training academy in Manchester. Throughout his career, Matt has successfully delivered projects for science and technology, healthcare, workplace, cultural, transportation and retail clients. Within that diverse set of experiences, he has developed into a leader with broad and adaptable skills that includes the design, management and execution of demanding projects. Matt has been an integralteam member on numerous award-winning projects in design, preservation and engineering. To every project, Matt ensures to take a nimble, open-minded approach. He works closely with clients including developers, cultural foundations, academic institutions, and technology companies to understand what motivates their decision-making, and to structure a design process unique to their culture. By letting go of preconceived notions and understanding that design problems rarely have silver bullet solutions, Matt is able to explore numerous potential solutions to find the path most suitable to each client and project. He also brings a strong appreciation for the tactility of tools like hand sketches and physical models.In addition to his project work at ZGF, Matt took a hands-on office leadership role. He was pivotal in the growth of the New York office from 10 to 65 staff. As a Principal, Matt led staffing, recruiting and personnel management and supported marketing and business development efforts. Matt is the definition of a generalist, curious by nature, the recipient of a double lung transplant, an avid reader and an aspiring ski bum.
