I have been working in the field of brain injury rehabilitation since 1996 and have managed in excess of 100 rehabilitation programmes for individuals with acquired brain injury and have actively case managed a wide range of complex cognitive behavioural cases through the litigation process.I am responsible for the recruitment and management of support teams, managing support workers by provision of training and supervision to ensure they are well informed about the client, their needs and are able to provide the best possible care and support in line with new legislation and best practice principlesAs I work with a wide range of clients with complex conditions, of varying ages, cultural and religious beliefs the development of a positive, empathic, non-judgemental approach is essential to develop a positive therapeutic relationship. This extends to my role in working with not only the client but their families, support team and wider multidisciplinary team to contribute to the identification and facilitation of goals.For 10 years I managed a team in excess of 40 staff as the CQC Registered Manager of an specialist brain injury residential unit. My experience has afforded me exposure to working across the support spectrum of brain injury, from secure forensic services, neuro-behavioural assessment, community preparation, supported community living and domiciliary programmes. I am a trained facilitator in Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP), a facilitator of training in de-escalation & breakaway techniques and, since 2011, a certified brain injury specialist with the Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialists (ACBIS).
