I am providing network architecture and design to the Origin automation network under the APLNG project.

Network engineer dealing with network and QCLNG projects, and tier 3 support. Recently moved into network architecture where I have designed two Nexus based datacenters. The first datacenter was a retrofit of the QGC primary datacenter. I replaced the network core with two Cisco Nexus 7009 chassis, and a Cisco Nexus 5548 based redundant path server farm, utilizing HP B22-HP modules and Cisco Nexus 2000 Fabric Extenders. The second datacenter was a ground up, end-to-end deployment of QGCs new Chinchilla datacenter. The design process included business justification for a Cisco Nexus based solution, high and low level designs and final deployment. The Chinchilla datacenter has a similar structure to the QGC primary datacenter, utilizing a Cisco Nexus 7000 core and Cisco Nexus 5000 server farm. I implemented advanced datacenter technologies in each deployment including Fiber Channel over Ethernet, VMware Network I/O Control and Virtual Port Channels.The technologies and skills I learnt in this role include:▪ Cisco ISR 800,1900,2800,2900,3800,3900 routers▪ Cisco 7200 router▪ Riverbed Steelhead 50xx series WAN optimisers▪ Riverbed Interceptor 9xxx series WAN optimisers▪ Cisco Ironport S series Web Security Appliances▪ Cisco Nexus 1000, 2000, 5000 and 7000 series switches▪ Solarwinds network management suite▪ Netscout LAN analysis suite, including taps, probes and nGenius server.▪ RSA SecurID and Authentication Manager server▪ EtherMux microwaves and Cisco 1410 wireless bridges

• Implementation of Brisbane City Council helpdesk deployment. Involving Cisco Unified Contact Centre Express.• Design work for Origin Talinga gas field network. Involving Cisco 3750 and ASA infrastructure.• Time & Materials work for QGC.

Network faults, general operational duties and projects. The technologies and skills I learnt in this role include the configuration, maintenance and design of the following:▪ Cisco Catalyst 2950s, 2960s, 3560s PoE, 3560Es, 3750s, 3750Es, 6509E, Cisco 1800 series routers and ASA 5500 series platforms.▪ BIG-IP F5 LTMs.▪ Cisco Application Control Engine (ACE) Service Modules.▪ Rapid Spanning-Tree (PVST).▪ Firewall Services Modules (FWSMs).▪ IP Quality of Service (QoS); both Catalyst hardware QoS and software routers.▪ BGP, including route injection and community string manipulation.▪ Project management; developing client requirements and leading tutorial sessions so operational staff could provide support for my project work.▪ The SmartSkies project; which involved bi-directional NAT including source NAT and Destination NAT on a Cisco ASA 5505.▪ Free Sites project; utilising NAT on a Cisco ASA 5505 and BGP route injection on a Cisco 6509.▪ ACLs including: ▪ Extended ACLs, ▪ Reflexive ACLs, ▪ IOS Firewall ACLs and ASA Extended ACLs. I configured ACLs on QUT's border and corporate firewalls (FWSMs), stand-alone ASAs and 1800 series software routers.▪ Multicast routing for both internal groups and internet multicast (streaming video from AARNET).▪ DNS/DHCP Infoblox appliance and BINDv9 management, configuration and troubleshooting.▪ controller-based enterprise wireless network which consists of a Cisco WCS, WiSMs and Aironet 1131, 1142, 1231, 1242 and 1252 Access points.

Network installations, retrofitting and auditing. Consulting with QUT academic staff too develop network requirements. Building network roll-outs of up to 20 Cisco Catalyst 2960s and 3750s.

Server administration, scripting and web programming. The skills and technology I learnt in this role include:▪ Administration of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) hosts.▪ Administration and bootstrapping of Community Enterprise OS (the open source equivalent to RHEL) hosts.▪ Installing and administrating Windows Server hosts.▪ Web development with Java Servlets and JSR168 Portlets.
