• Developed a Littmann-Metcalf external cavity diode laser cooled to operate at 764nm to optically pump singlet delta oxygen. • Worked with a team of engineers and scientists to design, build and test a 7 kilowatt chemical oxygen iodine laser (COIL). -Designed and fabricate an iodine supply system (boiler) central to the success of the COIL laser. -Wrote COIL Laser Operating Procedures -Wrote the quarterly progress reports that were send to the DoD contracting officer.• Collaborated with Utility Development Corporation, who developed a corrosion resistant fiber-reinforced PFA material to be used in an iodine environment.

Master’s thesis centered on Pico-second Raman Excitation & Laser Induced Electronic Fluorescence (RELIEF), flow tagging.• March 2009: Gave invited talk at NASA Langley Research Center • Developed a 1MHz rate burst mode laser, to perform PLIF flow visualization experiments in a high speed wind tunnel. In March 2009 we successfully demonstrated the use of the burst mode laser in the 31 inch Mach 10 wind tunnel at NASA Langley Research. Additional experiments were conducted in September 2009. • Experimentally investigated pico-second RELIEF flow velocimetry methods by vibrationally exciting molecular oxygen and imaging the laser induced fluorescence. o Gave a talk at the 46th AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting, Reno, Nevada, Jan. 2008• Assembled, altered and adapted lasers and other equipment to fit the needs of experiments. • Coursework included: Laser Fundamentals, Optical Techniques in Flows, Quantum Mech., Thermodynamics, Kinetics, Statistical Mech., etc. • Developed complex problem solving skills, through both coursework and research. • Worked as a teaching assistant and mentor to help students understand material discussed in class, and their experiments.

Worked as part of a team of technicians, physicians and other staff to administered over night sleep studies that helped to diagnose and provide treatment for patients' sleeping disorders and ensured that patients received as comfortable a night sleep as possible.
