About Matthew Kulikowski
People Oriented. Passionate. Adaptable. Leader. For as long as I can remember, I have been passionate about sports and recreation but more so the impact that they can have on the general public. Nothing brings me greater joy than seeing the smile and excitement sports and recreation can bring to fans, spectators, and participants. As a volunteer youth lacrosse coach while in high school and later full time coach while at community college, I had the opportunity to teach elementary, middle, and high schoolers the fundamentals and complexities of the sport of lacrosse. I took away many valuable lessons and skills from these experiences such as leadership, adaptability, and the importance of being passionate about what you do. In many ways, leadership speaks for itself but this is of the utmost importance when working with younger elementary/middle school children who are looking for people to look up to and be inspired by each and every day. The ability to adapt was key when it came to working with different groups each season and this was a lesson that helped me to understand that today is nothing like tomorrow and you have to be prepared for what might arise on any given day. Along with this, the passion that came about when I worked with those around me helped me to be truly excited and engaged with each group of people that I worked with. This passion is something that many sports fans and spectators have for their teams and is what helps to make the communities and fanbases so unique and exciting.Additionally, during my time at NC State University, I had the opportunity to work in both college athletics with the Recruiting Department of NC Sate Football as well as a point of sale role as a Member Services Specialist with NC State Wellness and Recreation. With the recruiting department I was able to gain valuable experience as it pertains to the gameday scene and it's ever-changing atmosphere. At Wellness and Recreation, I saw first hand how important it is to understand the software you work with and how to get the most out of it as well as the cooperation and coordination needed to have productive and effective days while creating the best possible product for your customer. These skills and values are what help me to understand that there are many aspects that contribute to the big picture. The ability to communicate effectively with those around you while also understanding that every single person is unique in their own way and can provide many different view points are two key ingredients to achieving goals each day.
