CurrentPLACE-BASED ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENTCollaborates with a team of 3-6 to work towards the goals of East Lansing’s Economic Development Strategic Plan through inclusive placemaking initiatives. Responsibilities include:- Serving as the staff liaison to East Lansing's Downtown Management Board, the City's principal shopping district. Key responsibilities include agenda preparation, budget formation, social media management, strategic marketing, and program development and execution. - Planning and executing dozens of downtown events and space activation plans in order to increase business foot traffic and engagement, including East Lansing's Albert EL Fresco pedestrian public space.- Building relationships with downtown businesses and providing direct assistance on a variety of matters, including technical assistance, collaboration on events, and marketing support.- Administering East Lansing’s Mobile Food Vending Program.- Directly supervising up to three seasonal Placemaking interns.COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG):Manages all facets of East Lansing’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, which receives $400,000-$500,000 in federal grant dollars annually. Responsibilities include:- Collaborating with other city departments and various non-profits to design and execute 8-12 projects annually that benefit low-to moderate-income East Lansing residents and neighborhoods. Projects relate to infrastructure improvements, housing assistance, small business support, and direct public services. - Contract drafting and management with grant sub-recipients.- Completing environment reviews and assessments to ensure projects are in compliance with federal requirements.- Presenting regularly regarding the City’s CDBG program to East Lansing City Council as well as various Boards and Commissions.- Organizing and managing East Lansing's Community Development Advisory Committee, which reviews CDBG applications and makes annual budget recommendations.
