In this role with the WHO, I was an expert reviewer evaluating the accuracy of rapid drug susceptibility testing for rifampicin (via the INNO-LiPA, the Genotype MTB-DR assay, the CRI assay, NRI and MODS) for identifying rifampacin resistance and the correlation of this resistance with MDR-TB. This data informed the revised WHO policy guidance on drug susceptibility testing (DST).

In this role with the WHO, I was lead researcher for a group evaluating the interaction of second line anti-tuberculosis drugs and antiretrovial therapy. We leveraged individual patient data from multiple studies to evaluate the impact of combined second line TB chemotherapy and antiretrovial therapy (compared to sequential treatment) on mortality, outcomes, and culture conversion. We also evaluated drug-drug interactions that correlated with toxicity and adverse events.
