Manchester Perfusion Practice Ltd provides extracorporeal services across the North West region of the United Kingdom since 1998. My primary place of work is the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust which performs nearly 700 adult cardiothoracic surgeries per year. I also provide perfusion and other extracorporeal services at other hospitals, including the BMI Alexandra Hospital, BMI The Park, Wythenshawe Hospital and Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.Main responsibilities:- Lead perfusionist on the introduction and implementation of electronic perfusion records.- Lead perfusionist on the upgrade of heart-lung machines without any disruption to cardiacservices.- Manages equipment servicing and maintenance of perfusion hardware and software.- Perfusion Lead for the BMI Alexandra Hospital site since November 2020.- Quality control specialist for acute blood coagulation equipment.- Operates and manages the heart-lung bypass machine in acquired and congenital adultcardiovascular cases, including coronary artery bypass grafting; heart valve repairs orreplacements; redo sternotomy; aortic surgeries including total aortic arch replacement andfrozen elephant trunk procedure.- Specialist in centrifugal arterial blood pumps, intra-aortic balloon pumps, platelet-rich fibrintherapy, retrograde autologous priming, myocardial protection techniques and cerebralperfusion.- Competent in near patient testing including thromboelastography and Multiplate analysis.- Operates cell salvage autotransfusion devices in cardiac, vascular, gynaecological andorthopaedic surgeries.- Competent in veno-arterial and veno-venous ECMO.- Provides emergency and on-call services.
