Life is a big game and a good teammate makes it easier for others to progress, not just themselves.I've been lucky enough to be on both sides of the game I love. In doing so I've learnt lessons and gained skills that are forever helping me improve my own life and others, on and off the playing field.*Effective communication - From brainstorming about a plan on how to bowl to the nations best batters with my teammates and coaching staff, to explaining a drill to 30, super excited, 10-15 year old kids on summer cricket camp. Having a good understanding on how different people effectively take on information has helped me create and maintain relationships with a plethora of people.*Performance review strategies - Unlike most jobs, as an athlete you are constantly judged based on game and training performances. Having a quality performance review system in place is a must for providing direction of my day to day preparation.*Problem solving - Picture this, as soon as the ball leaves your fingers, you know it's perfect, the best out-swinger you've ever bowled, only to have Ross Taylor step across his stumps and slog sweep you for six... What do you do next? High pressure, fast paced problem solving is tough and you don't always get it right. All you can do is put yourself in the best position to succeed as much as possible.Although my life revolves around cricket, my passions, hobbies and goals go very far beyond just cricket.*Culinary - Probably manifesting from a need to continually fuel the rig to keep moving after weeks and weeks of excessive training, I have developed a love for creating amazing food. The way you can combine loads of ingredients to create something, greater than the sum of its parts, absolutely fascinates me! This love has bred a curiosity to explore new combinations and techniques all the time.*Photo and film - A new found hobby of mine which I'm really enjoying learning. How certain tones and colours can completely alter the perception of an image is the reason why I fallen in love with this hobby.*Entrepreneurship - Building brand, story telling, building something from the ground up...
