Worked closely with the Finance Director during due diligence when the owners part sold the business, and also worked on a property redevelopment subsidiary which resulted in a flagship city of London store. Also managed the introduction of overseas branches and franchises, thus running small overseas subsidiaries in several countries across the world. I joined in 1996 just as an implementation of Oracle ERP software to join together 4 separate parts of the company into one had failed. We had to revert back to the old systems, which were different for each company. Managed bank and other balance sheet reconciliations whilst fighting with chasing creditors and quickly had to learn how letters of credit worked as the experience had been lost within the department. I acted as point of contact for small accounts teams based also in Newcastle and Manchester divisions and had to combine the reporting of each division and implement a group cash flow forecast and annual budgeting system to manage the cash crises. Became department accountant after a series of departures at senior level and was heavily involved in due diligence process when Victor Kiam led a rights issue to stabalise the company finances. After the rights issue, working closely with the new FD we were able to take back control of the debtors ledger from factors, and implement a new ERP system to manage the company going forward. Thanks to the successful implementation we were able to reduce the accounts department from 12 people to 6.
