Responsible for long term planning, design, and day to day network operations for an online financial provider including front end and internal websites, back end payment processing, and corporate IT services. Oversaw projects including a design and deployment of public wireless hotspot serving several thousand users during SXSW, ACL, and Austin startup week. Planned IPv6 adoption including allocation from ARIN. Worked with Information Security to detect and mitigate attacks. Designed and installed F5 load balancing leveraging hardware virtualization.

Responsible for design of internet facing and internal data center networks and campus wired and wireless networks for federal clients including the Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of State, and Department of Transportation. Designed new network environments from campus to data center networks including choice and sizing of network components, fault tolerance, load balancing methods, and routing appropriate for customer needs and budget. Developed design considerations including growth requirements, scalability, integration with existing environments and across platforms, load balancing, and application interaction between platforms over the network. Provided installation assistance and project management to customers after equipment purchase. Assisted in integration of new platforms into existing environment. Assisted customer with transition to Virtualized servers and network functions. Designed all new network environments from campus wired/wireless to data center networks including sizing of subnets, choice of network components, fault tolerance, load balancing methods, routing, and firewall design and rules. Developed design considerations for the data center network including growth requirements, scalability of existing environments, load balancing, and application interaction between platforms over the network. Responsible for BGP peering configuration and route manipulation. Provided advanced insight into application issues using live packet captures to identify performance degradation issues. Provided direction for integration of Virtualized hosts into the network including vMware vSwitches. Designed Campus network from ground up for utilizing Nexus core, Catalyst access, and Aironet wireless products from Cisco.

Designed and led implementation of data center networks spanning 3 data centers. Designed network infrastructure for new server environments LAN, backup, and administrative traffic including sizing of subnets, choice of network components, creating multiple levels of redundancy, load balancing methods, routing, and firewall modifications and rules. Responsible for long term design considerations of the data center network including future growth requirements, scalability of existing environments, and cloud integration. Provided in depth troubleshooting of technical issues pertaining to routing, switching, load balancing, and application interaction between platforms over the network. Coordinated implementation of network additions and changes with internal and external customers. Assisted in the development of RFI documents to ensure fair and open procurements. Flight-line maintenance of aircraft hydraulics systems.

Responsible for the design, configuration, and troubleshooting of leased data lines, line of sight radio and non-line of sight radio links, digital voice PBX systems, satellite radio systems, signal conversion equipment, CSU/DSUs and encryption devices. Responsible for coordination with other US Military and foreign agencies for installation and maintenance of digital data circuits. Responsible for the installation and troubleshooting of voice and data routing and switching equipment.

As a telecommunications Installer I installed of various voice and data network infrastructure components. Including structured wiring for both data and voice systems, running cables from IDF/MDF to end stations, termination of cables, and cable lacing and dressing.
