About Matthew Post
After having been in renewable energy research for most of my career, I am excited to begin an applied approach to the technology that needs to be widely adopted. Much progress has been made and it's now time to make the change over to a more sustainable solution. While research is still going to be vital for the field, I've seen industry making headway in ways that show the technology is ready and able now. I feel that transit is a unique area for this technology to make a stronghold and show how sustainable technologies can work. With my background experience, I'm ready to work with transit agencies and industry to make this transition as seamless as possible.Currently, Matt is a Sustainable Fleet Specialist at Hatch in Bus and Sustainable Transportation group and working from the Denver Office. Previously at NREL he worked in the Hydrogen Production, Power, and Storage Group in the Energy Conversion and Storage Systems Center. Before that, he worked in the Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Systems Engineering Group in the Transportation and Hydrogen Systems Center. Before that, he worked in the Safety Codes & Standards Group in the Hydrogen Technologies & Systems Center. His main project involved providing specialized expertise on process and instrumentation for the Safety Sensor Testing Laboratory. This work involved design and construction of systems, instrument setup and computer programming using LabVIEW. As well as the technical aspect of his work, he also provided input on experiment design and is involved in sensor evaluation. Prior to starting at NREL, he worked as a Research Associate at Eltron Research & Development Inc in Boulder, CO from 2001 to 2008. While at Eltron, he provided technical work and analytical input on projects for which the lab received funding. Projects that he worked on were supported both by private industry and by government grants including DOE, DOD, NASA and USDA. Before Eltron, he was a chemist at AAT Labs Inc in Grand Rapids, MI from 1998 to 2001. While at AAT Labs, he coordinated sample procurement with clients, performed wet chemistry analysis and assisted on special projects. He graduated in 1999 from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI with a B.S. in Environmental Science – Chemistry Emphasis and a minor in Geology.
