I am a biotech research scientist. I graduated from Utah Valley University with a B.S. in Biotechnology and a minor in Chemistry. I have experience in biotech research obtained during an internship at Innovabio. While there, I worked on a variety of projects including Alzheimer’s research, CRISPR experiments, and cytotoxic testing of various drugs and products. I have experience in cell culture, DNA manipulation and analysis, PCR, and protein purification. I then got a job out of college at Sumitomo Pharma Oncology. While there I worked on various programs trying to find potential novel cancer therapeutics, all while polishing skills such as mammalian cell culture, viral transductions, western blotting, and high throughput screening. I also had the opportunity to lead my project to develop and optimize an assay to help research and improve potential gene therapy treatments.Colleagues would describe me as a driven, hard-working, and resourceful individual with a positive, proactive attitude even in the face of adversity.Ever since I was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes when I was 11 years old, I have seen the impact of modern medicine allowing me to live a reasonably normal life. I have been fascinated with medical science and technology ever since and it has always been my dream to be a part of that field that can change and improve the quality of life of people around the world.
